As we come to the end of August, let us give thanks for all the ways he has been working among the Japanese and for those he has brought into his kingdom to the praise of his glory (1 Peter 2:9).
Though we are called to pray without ceasing for the Lord to send laborers into his rich harvest fields and to save those sitting in darkness (and let's continue to pray!), I wanted to just invite us all to come before the Lord with thanksgiving for the myriad of ways he has worked and is working in the hearts of Japanese men, women, and children.
Let us praise the Lord for all those he has brought out of the darkness and into his marvelous light. And let us praise Him for those he is drawing to Himself right now by his mighty grace. And let us praise the Lord for all he is going to do in the future, whether tomorrow or in years to come, in saving Japanese people.
As we give thanks to the Lord, let us continue to pray and not lose heart, knowing that our God reigns and that He will not fail to bring his sheep into his sheepfold (John 10:16).
