Weekly Prayer (June 13th, 2023): Let us pray for Japanese believers to be encouraged and strengthened as they pray that the Holy Spirit helps them in their weakness and intercedes for them with groanings too deep for words (Romans 8:26).
In Hebrews 13:5, the author encourages his audience to keep their lives free from love of money and to be content with what they have, for God has said he will never leave them or forsake them.
How amazing it is ton know that God will never leave or forsake his children. And not only will we never be forsaken, but both the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit are interceding for the saints.
Romans 8:34 says, "It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died--more than that, who was raised--who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us."
And before this, in verse 26, we read, "Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words."
Let us unite and pray for Japanese believers this week, especially those weary and discouraged, that they will hold fast to amazing grace and hope of these verses. And let us pray that they will pray without ceasing, even when they do not know how to pray, for the Spirit intercedes for them with groanings too deep for words. He helps them in their weakness (or, as the Japanese version says, "The Spirit helps we who are weak").
Let us pray for the strengthening of the Japanese church as our brothers and sisters in Christ draw near to the throne of grace to find mercy and grace in time of need (Heb 4:14-16). And may these verses encourage us to do the same, relying not on ourselves but on our God who is our great Deliverer and Sustainer.
