Weekly Prayer (March 29th, 2022): As people enjoy the blooming Sakura in Tokyo this week, let us pray that God will turn the eyes of their hearts upward to Himself, that they may come to believe on Jesus, in whom all things are held together (Colossians 1:17; 1 John 5:12).

The cherry blossoms are in full bloom in much of Tokyo right now (my favorite time of the year!), and as I take in the beauty of God's creation all around, I am in awe of our God's handiwork. The sakura are a true sight to behold, and even at 6am in the morning, popular sakura viewing spots are quite crowded.

While this is a very joyful time of new life with the flowering blooms, it is also a reminder of how most Japanese do not have true life because they do not have the Son. 1 John 5:12 says, "Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life."

Let us pray for the millions of Japanese people who currently do not have the Son of God, and let us pray for them to be born again to a living hope in Jesus Christ by the mercies of God (1 Peter 1:3). Let us pray that they will not worship the creature but the Creator. And let us pray that they will come to realize how thirsty they are and that there is One who offers living water to all who come to Him (John 4:11, 14; 7:38).

Heavenly Father, we ask all these things in the powerful and grace-filled Name of Jesus. Amen.
