As we approach the 10-year anniversary of the earthhquake-tsunami disaster this Thursday (March 11th), let us pray for God’s steadfast love to be poured into the hearts of a great multitude of Japanese people by His glorious grace (Romans 5:5; Psalm 33:22).
It will be 10 years ago this Thursday that the magnitude 9 earthquake shook northeastern Japan and triggered a devastating tsunami. Over 15,000 people lost their lives, and many of those people have never been found. Thousands are still displaced from their homes. Let us come before the Lord and plead with Him to show mercy to those whose lives changed forever that day. Pray for God's love to be poured into their heart through the Holy Spirit, that they may have true hope in God and find rest for their souls (Romans 5:5; Matthew 11:28-30; Psalm 33:22).
Let us ask continually for the Lord to have mercy on the nearly 127 Japanese people who are currently without hope and without God in the world. Let us pray that as they look back on March 11, 2011 that their hearts would yearn for living hope and salvation…that they would see how fragile life is and that hope in this world cannot sustain us. Please pray for the fog to lift, the spiritual blindness Satan has put upon their eyes (2 Cor. 4:4), to be shattered by the Light of the world. Pray for them to come to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, and that they will be filled with all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:19).
Let us continue to pray, every day, as long as we live, for all the peoples, including the Japanese people, to praise the LORD!
