Let us pray for God to move and work in Japanese people's hearts during this holiday week in Japan to bring them into the kingdom of His Beloved Son (Colossians 1:13-14).
This week is what's known as Golden Week in Japan, and May 3rd, 4th, and 5th are all national holidays. People will be traveling, spending time together with family, going on outings, etc. during this week, and I want to invite us to pray that God will use this change of routine, this time of rest from work, school, etc., to awaken Japanese people's hearts to their need for a Savior. Let us pray that, by God's mighty power and grace, they will not only see their need but run to the One who can redeem them from their sins and bring them to God (Ephesians 2:13).
In Paul's letter to the Colossians, he speaks of God's redemptive mercy at work in his and their lives: "He [God} has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins" (Colossians 1:13-14). We all were once imprisoned in the domain of darkness, being without hope and without God in the world (Eph 2:12), but God has rescued us and brought us into the kingdom of his beloved Son Jesus.
It is in Christ alone that we have redemption and forgiveness of sins, and this Golden Week, let us pray with all our hearts that God will continue to transfer more and more Japanese people from the domain of darkness to the kingdom of his beloved Son, Jesus, he who is the radiance of the glory of God (Hebrews 1:3).
Father in heaven, we come before you and pray for your saving grace to continue to pour out upon the Japanese people, for the light and hope of Christ to shine upon those who are dwelling in darkness. Be glorified, we pray, across Japan, in the salvation and redemption of sinners. In Jesus's beautiful and mighty Name we pray, Amen.
