Weekly Prayer (Nov 29th, 2021): As we enter into this advent season, let us pray that the light that has shone in the darkness will shine in millions of Japanese hearts by the grace of God (Isaiah 9:2).
In Isaiah's prophesy about the coming Messiah, we read: "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in deep darkness, on them has light shone." (Is. 9:2). Let us praise the Lord for his amazing grace in sending his beloved Son into the world to make propitiation for our sins, for the light of redeeming grace that shone in full brightness in Christ's incarnation.
And let us pray for the Lord to continue to shine in the hearts of those who do not yet believe on Christ. Millions of Japanese souls still dwell in darkness, but the Lord Jesus promised that whoever follows him "will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). Let us unite in prayer this first week of advent and come before our Father--with boldness and bright hope--and plead for the true light, the Son of God, to have mercy on Japanese men, women, and children who dwell and darkness, that they might be brought into His marvelous light .
And let us pray for the good news of the Lord Jesus to be proclaimed and shared across Japan faithfully and joyfully this Christmas—and for the Lord to grant good soil for the seed of the gospel in a great multitude of Japanese hearts. Pray for great rejoicing in heaven day after day as sinners find forgiveness of their sins in Christ and find everlasting hope and joy as the Lord himself makes his face to shine upon them (Numbers 6:25). Amen.
