Weekly Prayer (Oct 18th, 2021): Pray for Japanese believers to be sober-minded and watchful, to keep their eyes fixed on Christ while resisting their adversary the devil (1 Peter 5:8-9).
I have been meditating on 1 Peter recently, and the Lord impressed on me how crucial it is for the church be watchful of the devil's schemes and to resist him, as chapter 5 warns us. So I want to ask you to join with me in praying specifically for God's protection for his Japanese church, that they will be covered in the whole armor of God moment by moment (Eph. 6:10-18), that they may resist Satan and stand firm in their faith.
1 Peter 5:8-9 says, "Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world."
Let us pray these verses over and for our Japanese brothers and sisters this week. Let us pray that they will fix their eyes on He who is their life (Col. 3:4) and to the eternal glory that awaits them in Christ Jesus (1 Pet 5:10).
In Jesus's Name, Father, we pray all these things. Answer us according to your perfect will. Amen.
